Local Club Rules

THE HANDICAP

To maintain an official Handicap, at least three medal scores must be returned each season, in 9- or 18-hole Medal Competition.

To obtain an official Club Handicap, at least three cards totaling 54 holes must be submitted played over one of the Club’s measured courses.

Completed cards should be endorsed “For Handicap” and placed in the boxes in the changing rooms for the attention of the Competitions Convener or Handicap Secretary.

 

1. ANY TEMPORARY LOCAL RULE DEFINED ON THE NOTICE BOARD

Penalty for breach of Local Rule.
Match Play – Loss of Hole. Stroke Play : 2 Strokes

2. OUT OF BOUNDS

A ball played over any boundary fence or wall shall be deemed out of bounds. On the 16th and 17th fairways the boundary shall be defined by the line of white markers.
The wall behind the 17th green and along the left side of the 18th hole shall be treated as out of bounds. The fence and road in front of the 1st tee are not boundaries in respect of the 1st hole only, and shall be treated as an integral part of the course.
The surfaced area left and right of the 1st tee and left of the 12th tee marked with white lines or posts are out of bounds.
To the left of the white line on the 1st hole and to the right of the vvhite line on the 6th hole is out of bounds.

3. DROPPING AREAS

A ball lying between black and white striped marker posts, in the ditch 1 at the 16th and 18th greens or close to the fence or wall at the 17th green, may be lifted and dropped in the nearest official dropping area under penalty of one stroke.

4. OVERHEAD POWER LINES

If a ball strikes any overhead power line, or the telegraph pole on the 3rd hole, the player must disregard that stroke, abandon the ball and play another ball as near as possible to the spot fro111 which the original ball was played in accordance with Rule 20-5 (playing the next stroke from where the previous stroke was played).

5. BRIDGE AT 3RD HOLE

If a ball comes to rest on the bridge between the yellow lines then it shall be deemed to be within the hazard. If the ball comes to rest outwith the yellow line and the bridge is interfering with stance or intended swing then the ball may be be lifted and dropped at the nearest point of relief no nearer the hole without a penalty.

6. STAKED TREES

If such a tree interferes with the player’s stance or intended swing, the ball must be lifted and dropped without penalty, one club length fron the nearest point of relief, but not nearer the hole.

7. LATERAL WATER HAZARD

The ditch on the left of the 16th and 18th fairways is a Lateral Water Hazard. A ball lying in the ditch between the out of bound fence, wall or white post and the line of the Red markers defining the hazard can be dropped within two club lengths from the point the ball entered the hazard, but not nearer the hole. See Rule 3 on card for black and white striped posts at 16th, 17th and 18th green . (Lateral Water Hazard refer to Rule 26).

8. HEALTH AND SAFETY

  • To make themselves aware of and conform to all Club health and safety rules and all signs while at Minto Golf Club.
  • To observe the etiquette of golf while using the course.
  • To replace DIVOTS.
  • To repair PITCH marks on GREENS.
  • To allow players playing official matches or competitions priority on the course.
  • To allow priority to competitors in JUNIOR SECTION events.
  • TO KEEP THIS BEAUTIFUL COURSE AND THE SURROUNDING WOODLANDS FREE OF LITTER
