Seniors June Medals - Amended Results, Mackinnon Trophy update

competition icon 2019Pat Jubb reports that 19 Seniors set out on a cold, wet, blustery day that felt more like late Autumn rather than early Summer.  Despite the great condition of the course, the weather made for difficult scoring as can be seen from the results. The 18 hole medal was won by Geoff Ross with a net 70.with a net 70 . John Macfarlane was 2nd with a net 72. and Alister Mackenzie took 3rd place on 73.

Following a study of the Rules of Golf, Pat Jubb disqualified himself from the Medal, hence the amended results.

The 9 hole medal was won by Michael Cooper with 17 points, with Kenneth Richards in 2nd place also with 17 points but with Michael having the better final 3 holes. Dale Ploughman came 3rd with 15 points.

Full results of each Medal are shown below along with a update on Mackinnon Trophy placings after two events.  The Mackinnon Trophy is awarded the the Senior with the best aggregate of four net scores from the six-monthly medal series. As a result of the amendement to Tuesday's medal, John McFarlane leads the standings on 141, 3 ahead of Ray Johnson and Alister Mackenzie. At this stage Ray and Alister cannot be sepaarted as they scored identically in both the May and the June Medals.

May Medal - 6th May

The first of six Senior Medals for 2019 was played on Monday 6th May when twenty-five Seniors took to the course for the 18 hole Medal, while three played in the 9 hole version. The weather turned this week such that the competition was played in cold damp weather.  The thick wet rough was particularly punitive and made for difficult scoring conditions. A highlight of the day was Ray Johnson’s majestic 8 iron to the 16th green which pitched on the green and rolled into the hole for a 2 net 1, much to the delight of the players standing on the 17th green.

Pat Jubb was the winner of the 18 hole with a net 69 just beating John McFarlane also on 69, but with Pat having the better inward 9. Jim Adams was 3rd with a net 70.

In the 9 hole event, Alan Muir led the field with 14 points, followed by John Morris on 13 and Michael Cooper on 10

The full results of the 18 hole medal are shown below.  As this is the first medal of the season, the rankings below also reflect the position to date in the McKinnon Trophy (awarded to the Senior with the best aggregate of 4 net scores in the Seniors Medals)
